CHAPTER SIX
âRAQUEL, you got a minute?â
âSure, Whit. Whatâs up?â
âWeâve been hacked.â
Raquel raised a brow. âHacked?â
âSomeone has your direct hot wire number and is calling you without coming through the proper channels.â
A frown settled on Raquelâs face. âBut how, and who is it?â
âIâm suspecting itâs that guy named Renaldo. Is he still calling you?â
âYes.â
âWhen was the last time?â
That was easy enough for her to remember, since she still had dreams about that particular call. âFour days ago.â
âAha! Heâs our man. Do you have any idea who he might be?â
âNo, I assumed he was a client.â She nervously began nibbling on her bottom lip. âShould we call in security?â
âUmm, not yet, because weâve also received an anonymous cashierâs check in the mail with no return address that equals the amount of time for the calls. So although he didnât come through proper channels, heâs honest enough to pay for the calls.â
âHow did he get my phone number?â
âI donât know.â
Raquelâs forehead furrowed. âThat doesnât make sense. My number isnât listed anyplace. The only people who know it are us and the phone company.â
âTrue. The only thing I can figure is that someone has managed to hack into our system for the hot wire.â
âThen why didnât we go through the phone company and trace his phone number?â
âBecause evidently he wants to keep his identity hidden. I talked to our attorney and she said we could find out his identity, but in the end we would spend more money trying to find out who he is than what he paid for the calls. She feels we should count our blessings that heâs being honest and not worry about it.â
Not worry about it?
âUnless he becomes a nuisance. Has he?â Whitney asked.
Raquel licked her lips. No, he hadnât been a nuisance, unless you called him revving up her hormones a nuisance. Ren had a way with words, and it was amazing how her body would react to them. The man could get her fired up in an instant, when it should be the other way around. It was as if he was servicing her instead of her servicing him.
âWell, has he been a nuisance?â
Raquel blinked, realizing Whitney was waiting for her answer. âNo. And like I told you, I enjoy his calls.â
âUmm, I wonder why.â
She knew her best friend was teasing her, since sheâd told her before how much Renâs call turned her on. âYou know why, and if thatâs all you want to know, I need to go out for a few errands.â
âYou go do your errands. I think Iâll check out a few things.â
âA few things like what?â
âOh, nothing important. Iâll chat with you later.â
Raquel ended the call thinking Whitney had too much free time on her hands.

âSORRY IF MY happiness is making you ill, Quest,â Quincy said, smiling to his twin as he eased into the chair across from him.
Quest rolled his eyes. His brother had just returned from his honeymoon and dropped by his place to aggravate him. âItâs not making me ill.
